COURSE MATERIAL:
·
Karamitroglou,
F. 2021. Essential Business Terminology for Native Speakers of Greek [Revised
Edition].
ASSESSMENT:
·
1
Final Exam, consisting of questions on terminology and translation drills (based on the material discussed in class).
OBJECTIVES:
Anchored on
a set of texts from all fields of business for specialised vocabulary purposes,
this module aims to familiarise students with essential terms and
key-expressions used in professional and academic business writings. Through a
series of carefully chosen extracts and ensuing terminological discussions,
students learn to understand, decode and reproduce texts rich in dedicated
business vocabulary. Clearly targeting prospective professionals and/or
postgraduate students, this module is designed to unveil the phrasing and
content of real-life material used in daily business circumstances and expose a
range of basic terms that appear in academic textbooks. At the end of this
module, students will be able to perform interlingual business tasks from/into
English and Greek – as assigned by employers and dictated by the market – and
attend business-related postgraduate courses in Greece or abroad with more ease
and less linguistic hindrance.
