Vasilios A. Siris

Siris.JPGWelcome to my home page. I am a Professor at the Department of Informatics, of the School of Information Sciences and Technology at the Athens University of Economics and Business. I am also a member of the Mobile Multimedia Laboratory. Previously I was an Assistant and Associate Professor in the same department (2009-2020) and an Assistant Professor at the Department of Computer Science, of the University of Crete (2002-2008). I was also a Research Assistant and later a Research Associate at the Institute of Computer Science, Foundation for Research and Technology - Hellas / FORTH (1993-2015), member of the Telecommunications and Networks Laboratory. During the spring of 2001 I was a Visiting Researcher at the Statistics Laboratory of the University of Cambridge, UK, and the summer of 2001 and 2006 I was a Research Fellow at British Telecommunications (BT) Labs in Ipswich, UK.

I obtained the Diploma in Physics from the National Kapodistrian University of Athens (1990), the Masters of Science in Computer Science from Northeastern University, Boston, USA (1992), and the PhD in Computer Science from the University of Crete (1998).

My research interests are in the area of wireless networks and mobile communications, and include resource management and traffic control in wired and wireless networks, network traffic measurement and analysis, the application of Distributed Ledger Technologies (DLTs) for security and trust in the IoT, and technology and architecture of mobile and pervasive networks. A key direction of my work has been the combination of analytical methods with the prototype implementation and evaluation of these methods in actual systems.

In addition to publications in international journals and conferences, I have one International and two national (Greek) patents related to wireless/mobile network management.
